Kulukulu Visit - June 26
Visit Overview
Pacific Education visited Kulukulu Primary School to gain a better understanding of the school's learning environment, meet with staff, and identify opportunities where future support could have the greatest impact. During our visit, we met members of the teaching staff, who shared valuable insights into the school's successes, challenges, and aspirations.
Kulukulu Primary School provides education from Kindergarten through to Year 8 and supports approximately 270 students across nine classes. Despite relatively large class sizes, the school continues to achieve strong academic results, with almost every Year 8 student successfully progressing to secondary school.
School Highlights
The school has a dedicated teaching team committed to helping every student succeed. Teachers highlighted the positive academic performance of their students and the importance of maintaining strong attendance and family engagement throughout a child's education.
The school has access to internet connectivity and makes good use of PM Benchmark reading kits to support literacy. However, staff advised that additional graded readers, classroom resources and technology would greatly enhance teaching and learning opportunities.
School Priorities
During our discussions, several priority areas were identified. These include expanding the school library with additional books, providing practical mathematics resources, increasing access to classroom technology such as projectors and laptops, and supplying teachers with additional curriculum and classroom materials.
Staff also identified the completion of the school's perimeter fencing as an important infrastructure project to better protect school buildings, equipment and grounds.
Looking Ahead
Our visit highlighted a school with strong leadership, dedicated teachers and students who are eager to learn. Pacific Education looks forward to continuing its relationship with Kulukulu Primary School and exploring practical ways to support the school's educational goals and provide opportunities that will benefit students for many years to come.
